Buy cow dung manure online only if it is well-rotted
Cow dung manure is not bad. Fresh cow dung is the problem. Good manure should be dark, earthy, cool to touch and not sharp-smelling. If it smells like ammonia, it is still too fresh for delicate roots.
TNAU Agritech describes farmyard manure as decomposed dung, urine, bedding and fodder waste, and notes that the material needs months to become ready. Colorado State University Extension also warns that fresh manure can burn plants because of ammonia and salts.
